Martin Jancík, Product Design Manager at Kiwi.com: Great UX solves customer problems before they occur

August 29, 2023

Kiwi.com will host its sixth UX hackathon in Prague, focusing on driving innovation in the travel industry.

August 29, 2023 – Kiwi.com, the leading travel-tech company, will host the sixth User Experience (UX) hackathon, Global Travel Jam, in Prague. Previously hosted in Brno and Bratislava, as well as remotely in Zagreb and Barcelona during Covid-19 lockdowns, this hackathon will focus on innovative solutions to address travelers’ needs. The participants will go beyond typical traveler archetypes, creating detailed personas like a bachelorette party group looking to save money or older travelers with limited travel experience who are not tech-savvy. They will identify those travelers’ specific goals, needs, and pain points.

“Each hackathon focuses on a new, trending topic – this year’s focus is innovation, while last year it was on simplifying complex travel itineraries and promoting a customer-centric approach. The goal of the Global Travel Jam is to give UX professionals a full understanding of UX possibilities, challenge their thinking, and allow them to experience how it is to be a part of Kiwi.com’s design culture and UX team,” says Martin Jancík, Product Design Manager at Kiwi.com.

Working in teams, the participants will then hack innovative solutions that would make their journey and experience with Kiwi.com seamless. Kiwi.com’s design team will support the participants, bringing their skills, insights, and expertise.

With the goal to offer the customer full freedom in travel, UX plays a pivotal role in the strategy of Kiwi.com, placing the customer at the center of every product and service decision being made. To involve all teams in the co-creation of products, the company has built an organizational approach in which on every level of the company there are stakeholders responsible for product, engineering, and design who focus on business viability, implementation feasibility, and user-centricity.

“Great UX should take into account the unique needs of the customers, offer frictionless solutions to problems before they occur, and help guide people to the outcomes they want. Our team vision is to bring inspiration, innovation, and a seamless experience to every Kiwi.com traveler. As we strive to personalize our product for customers with different needs, the complexity of our solutions grows. The problems we face require more creative ideation and deeper understanding of our customers,“ explains Jancík.

Global Travel Jam will take place from the 6th to the 8th of October at Kiwi.com’s offices in Prague and is open to UX designers and UX researchers. Interested participants have to submit their applications via the registration link until 6th September 2023. To find out more about the event, visit globaltraveljam.com.
