Kiwi.com saw bookings from Europe to the U.S.A. double overnight

9 November 2021 – The announcement on 20 September that the United States would reopen to Europeans generated great interest from European travelers, Kiwi.com data shows.  Kiwi.com saw searches for flights to the U.S. jump by 117% on September 20, while the bookings doubled.

The most booked and searched cities by Kiwi.com’s European customers are New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston, with the most popular routes being: Paris – New York, London – New York, Madrid – New York, Madrid – Miami and London – Los Angeles.

Kiwi.com is seeing bookings to the United States coming most frequently from Spain, the U.K., France, Italy, and Germany.  For Europeans who choose to self-connect to reach their final U.S. destination, the most popular ‘stopover cities’ are Madrid, New York, Miami, Chicago, Frankfurt, Paris, Barcelona, Munich, and Amsterdam. 

Bookings are predominantly for travel in the immediate months after the announcement. The time travelers plan to spend in the US shows that over half are making a short trip, from one to three days (57%), while thirty-seven percent of bookings are for more than 7 days. 

The cheapest routes from Europe in the past weeks were from Milan to New York (392 EUR), Madrid – New York (450 EUR), Madrid – Chicago (452 EUR), Barcelona – New York (514), and Frankfurt – Miami (523).  Travelers can find the current best prices to the U.S. on the Kiwi.com Deals page: https://www.kiwi.com/en/deals.
