Kiwi.com: European travelers choosing to fly to summer hotspots during the off-season can save up to 34.5% on their flight tickets
Prague, Czech Republic — The end of the European summer vacations marks the beginning of the travel season for those who prefer quieter and more affordable trips. Kiwi.com booking data reveals that this year tickets to travel during the off-season months from the European continent, are on average 19% cheaper than they were to travel during the summer. Specifically, tickets for short-distance flights (0-1,499km) are the cheapest during the off-season, dropping by 23.4%, while medium-distance trips (1,500-3,999km) follow with a 19% drop. Lastly, the long-distance flights (4,000+km) see an 18.3% decrease in price when booked for off-season travels.
Although those traveling in the summer and those traveling off-season have the same preferences in terms of where to go, off-seasoners, purchase their trips for a much more affordable price:

However, the fact that traditionally popular destinations are positioned in the top ten doesn’t mean that European travelers are not keen to explore new places. Kiwi.com data shows that the Moldavian capital, Chișinău, has increased in popularity by 122% from September to December compared to last year. It is followed by the Norwegian Tromsø, one of the best destinations to see the northern lights, which has seen a 70% increase in popularity.
On the Asian continent, Kiwi.com bookings from the European continent to tropical Colombo in Sri Lanka and architecture-famous Baku in Azerbaijan have increased by 56.5%. At the intersection of the Asian and European continents, bookings to Tbilisi in Georgia increased by 35.7%, while on the African continent, 22.5% more bookings were made to Hurghada in Egypt, and 20% bookings to travel to Tangier in Morocco.
