European Easter travels: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Albania gain popularity

Prague, Czech Republic – As the Easter holidays approach, European travelers preferences are wide ranging, with registering travel bookings to 144 different countries in the period 28 to 31 March*. According to data, the top destinations are Spain, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and Poland. Turkey appears next in the top ten with a strong 92% increase in bookings compared to last year, followed by Germany, Saudi Arabia, Romania, and Portugal. Among the top twenty, Albania is also experiencing an unusual shift in interest, with 65% more bookings made for the Easter holiday period compared to last year. 

The rise of interest in new destinations is also confirmed when examining the most favored cities this Easter. data reveals that while classics like London, Paris, Rome, and Barcelona maintain their top positions this year, Jeddah stands out as the fifth most booked destination with a remarkable 92% increase in interest.  At the same time, bookings to Istanbul, which holds the sixth position on the list of the most booked cities, increased by 116%, and those to Tirana by 66%. data shows that the airports that look set to be particularly busy over the Easter period are Warsaw Chopin, London Gatwick, Václav Havel Prague, Copenhagen Airport, and Barcelona–El Prat.  Notably, Chopin, Gatwick, and Copenhagen are witnessing a significant increase in outbound traffic, with 72%, 49%, and 46% respectively compared to last year.

On average travelers booked their Easter vacation on 44 days in advance, with the majority departing on Friday, 29 March for an average trip duration of six days. Most travelers prefer shorter trips, with 62% opting for trips lasting up to three days, which fits the public holidays for Easter.
