Brits bid farewell to Benidorm
Brits jet off to the Mediterranean coastline in hope of reliving memories of ITV cult classic as flight searches increase by 482%
London, May 2018 — Flight booking site Kiwi.com has recorded a sudden surge in searches to Alicante from British airports across the country, in reaction of the announcement that long-running sitcom, Benidorm, will air its final episode this week.
On Sunday evening, show creator, Derren Litten revealed on Twitter that the final ever episode of the ITV cult-classic would be shown on Wednesday (2 May) with the conclusion of its tenth season, 11 years since it first aired.

Flight data released by Kiwi.com has shown that binge-watching Brits from across the country have been inspired to relive their favorite moments from program. Since the announcement that the show is coming to its final conclusion, there has been an eight per cent increase in the amount of flight enquiries this week in comparison to the week before the announcement.
It appears Edinburgh has the strongest attachment to the show, with flight searches surging up by 800 per cent to Alicante (the nearest major airport to the setting of the much-loved sitcom) in comparison to last week. Londoners are also keen to swap the nightlife in the capital for a cocktail at Neptunes, with reports of a 228 per cent increase across all London airports.
Although the Hotel Solana is fictitious, many Mancunians are looking to enjoy the sites of the Sol Pelícanos Ocas (the hotel where the show has been filmed) with spikes in flight enquiries from Manchester (477 per cent), as well as spikes from Birmingham (483 per cent) in the days following the announcement, in comparison to the same days in the previous week.
