Two flights, two airlines through a single booking

March 07, 2019

Cologne / Bonn is the first German airport to partner with travel booking platform Kiwi.com to make multiple bookings a thing of the past

LONDON, 7 March 2019 — Two flights with two different airlines can be booked through a single booking process made possible by Kiwi.com. Cologne / Bonn Airport is the first German airport to implement the booking platform with immediate effect.

Passengers who would like to combine flights from different airlines to reach their final destination can now do so with just a few clicks instead of booking multiple tickets separately. This service has been devised and embedded by Kiwi.com directly on the website of Cologne / Bonn Airport. Future plans are to include a Hosted Stopover Program, further enhancing the passengers experience of the airport and flight capabilities.

Example scenario:

The customer wishes to fly from Cologne / Bonn with airline no. 1 to Barcelona and then to continue with airline no. 2 to Santiago de Chile, the customer can book the two flights via Kiwi.com as a package. Individual bookings are no longer necessary thanks to Kiwi.com’s proprietary Virtual Interlining.

The same applies to passengers using the Cologne Bonn Airport as a transfer airport. If the customer wanted to travel from Hamburg to Cologne / Bonn with airline no. 1 and then continue their journey with airline no. 2 to Bordeaux, Kiwi.com allows for these combinations.

In addition to booking a feeder and connecting flight in one booking, Kiwi.com users benefit from additional advantages: Kiwi.com ensures that there is sufficient transfer time when combining the flights. However, if the feeder flight is delayed and the connecting flight is missed, the Kiwi.com Guarantee applies, meaning that the online travel agency will organize replacement flights, financial reimbursement or, if applicable, a hotel overnight stay. Kiwi.com dedicates to putting their customer first and these products will enhance the airport experience.

Johan Vanneste, CEO of Flughafen Köln / Bonn GmbH, said: “The desire to travel seamlessly from A to B corresponds to the zeitgeist of our increasingly digitalized world. Our cooperation with Kiwi.com is an important, first step in this direction. We are very pleased to be able to offer passengers in Cologne / Bonn this comfortable service as the first German airport.”

Zdeněk Komenda, Chief Business Development Officer of Kiwi.com, adds: “The partnership with Cologne / Bonn Airport is important not only for our company but also for our customers. We want to provide a service that is as comprehensive as possible. Passengers can now travel seamlessly and indefinitely — choosing from the cheapest routes and airlines, with the backup of the Kiwi.com Guarantee as reassurance, should travel not go quite as planned.”

Kiwi users have access to 3,650 combinations of airline connections from different airlines in 150 countries. The service is the answer to the growing number of passengers who want to organize their own trips – including transfers and stopovers.
