Twelve new content creators and promoters, selected from over 10,000 applicants, to be Kiwi.com World Travel Hackers this summer

June 28, 2024

Prague, Czech Republic – Kiwi.com has completed the difficult selection process to get down to the final twelve chosen to be this summer’s World Travel Hackers. Along with their chosen travel buddies, they now have the phenomenally exciting experience of traveling to far flung destinations and documenting their journeys along the way to give inspiration and travel advice to others.

Following the successful adventures of last year’s seven World Travel Hackers, this time Kiwi.com increased the search to 12. The first step involved signing up to become a member of the Kiwi.com Flight Crew (members get special offers, deals and other benefits for posting cool travel content) and then create content on their preferred social media channels explaining why they should be chosen. In total, Kiwi.com received over 10,300 applications, from over 130 countries.

“It is great to see interest from such a diverse pool of creators wishing to become this year’s Kiwi.com World Travel Hackers. We received applications from a wide range of freelancers, including: water polo players, moms, bodybuilders, rappers, and even aspiring politicians, so selecting the final 12 was no easy task. We looked for those who could create eye-catching and engaging content, had production skills, were good at storytelling and were showing some sort of creative thinking through their videos,” commented Christophe Wechsler, Head of Content & Creative at Kiwi.com.

The Kiwi.com World Travel Hackers 2024:

  • Latvia – Erik, who enjoys meeting new cultures and has been traveling for the past two and a half years, and his travel buddy Quynh from Vietnam.
  • Slovakia – Lenka and David, a married couple just returned from their 14-month-long honeymoon. Together they traveled through African countries such as Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania, and Uganda, and also visited Asia – the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, with shorter stays in Bangladesh, India, and Nepal.
  • Portugal – Catarina, who will travel with her Spanish boyfriend, Rodrigo. They met on Rodrigo’s last day of Erasmus, and their first date was a week in Malta; since then, they have maintained a long-distance relationship, discovering Spain and Portugal together.
  • Romania – Alexandra and Andrea, two sisters with adventurous spirit and passion for exploration.
  • Lithuania—Gabija and her full-of-surprises best friend Giedre live on opposite sides of Lithuania. They found each other at the university and have been inseparable since then, traveling and living together in different countries.
  • Hungary Levi and Aron, two best friends that used to live on the same street but now study in Portugal and Germany. Whenever they see each other, legendary things happen.
  • Spain Violeta and Carmen, two best friends and artists with a great passion for music. They are experts in planning trips while saving money and they promise to share their travel experiences in a realistic and creative way, avoiding conventions.
  • Portugal another entry from Portugal. Mariana grew up with the dream of traveling the world, and her boyfriend Bruno will join her. Together they plan to prove that traveling the world on a budget is possible.
  • United States Tara and Brenna, two best friends, traveled to 15 countries together and had plenty of adventures.
  • Czech Republic – Natalia, who has been traveling on her own since she was seventeen years old and has hitchhiked from the Czech Republic to as far as Africa. She will partner with her boyfriend, Filip.
  • United Kingdom – A poet, Liv, will take up the challenge with her fiancé Dan, who is an artist. As a travel duo, they complement each other and have tons of fun together.
  • Poland – will be represented by fresh medicine graduate Michał who wants to have the summer of his life as a World Travel Hacker before he starts his career as a Doctor. His travel buddy is his friend Su Nagano from Japan.

The twelve couples will start their journeys during the summer months and travel for four weeks.

A survey conducted by STEM/MARK* on behalf of Kiwi.com across 6 European countries, reveals that 92% of respondents aged between 18-37 would consider dropping everything to take off for four weeks even if the destination was unknown. Specifically, 55% answered they would absolutely do it, while another 37% would at least consider such an opportunity. Among the surveyed countries, Romanians were the least hesitant, with 67% responding that they would definitely go for it.
