Kiwi.com World Travel Hackers: Record Interest in Round-the-World Challenge

July 01, 2025

Prague — Travel fever has once again gripped thousands of adventurers as Kiwi.com, the leading travel-tech company, launched the third annual global World Travel Hackers challenge. This year’s ultimate prize: a trip around the world in 28 days with a budget of €10,000. This unique challenge has attracted a record number of nearly 16,000 applicants from 163 countries, confirming the unceasing desire for discovery and boundless travel.

This year’s  World Travel Hackers challenge offers 7 pairs of adventurers a budget of 10,000 euros for four weeks of global travel. Participants are tasked not only with discovering amazing places and completing various travel challenges but also documenting their experiences and travel tips through engaging social media content. The key condition is to utilize the most effective “hacks” for budget travel, as they can keep anything they manage to save from the allocated budget. The goal is to inspire others and show how it is possible to travel affordably and explore the world even with a limited budget.

“The enormous interest in the third edition of World Travel Hackers and in the opportunity to travel around the world confirms that people are hungry for real adventures and still have much to discover. We are delighted to be part of such exceptional stories and to provide opportunities for interesting and creative people, regardless of their follower count or age,” says Christophe Wechsler, Head of Content and Creative at Kiwi.com.

World Travel Map and Europe’s Dominance

Poland leads with over 2,300 applicants, followed by Spain (1,300+) and Romania (1,200+). Other top countries include France, Italy, Germany, and the UK (900+ each), with the Czech Republic in the top 8 (500+). Europe accounts for over 86% of all applications (12,681).

Who Are Those Longing for a Trip Around the World?

The challenge is open to the general public, prioritizing authenticity and real stories over established influencer status. The age range of applicants is surprisingly broad, from 18 to 77 years old, with an average age of 29.69. Most applicant duos are married couples, friends, or partners, including some who want to travel with their small children, alongside unique stories such as an applicant wanting to travel with their grandmother, and a doctor who left her medical career for travel.

Finalists Revealed: Diverse Stories of Global Adventurers

The final seven selected duos illustrate the variety of people who wanted to take part in the challenge.

“We were really impressed by the quality of applications we received for the ultimate summer job this year. Selecting only seven from almost sixteen thousand was no easy task,” said Wechsler. “From the German movie director planning the trip with his grandma, to couples applying as a family and including their toddlers, all submissions were engaging with highly compelling content. The most important traits that separated the finally selected seven duos were authenticity and uniqueness backed by distinct personalities. That is the case for all of the World Travel Hackers 2025 – from the Australian adventurer and globe-trotter Chloe, who will race around the world with her mother, Reka from Hungary, to a marketing girl with a foodie heart, who is planning her ultimate summer trip with her fiancé,” he added.
