Kiwi.com opens another developer office in Slovakia

September 08, 2022
  • The new branch in Košice will complement the one in Bratislava
  • Eastern Slovak hub attracts IT talent with latest technologies and global reach

Košice, 8 September 2022 – A new office of travel-tech company Kiwi.com has opened its doors, which is experiencing further expansion and a steep rise in bookings due to the recovery of the travel industry. As in the case of Bratislava, the Košice office, located in the Košice Business Centre, will focus on the development of Kiwi.com’s key products.

“In Košice, we are opening not only an office, but of course opportunities for talented people, developers and data engineers who are interested in the global travel tech company environment and want to contribute to the development of products that are used by people around the world and that drive the world of travel,” says Stanislav Komanec, VP of Engineering at Kiwi.com.

Kiwi.com’s first strategic office in Slovakia was opened in 2019 in Bratislava, where around 55 employees are currently working on the development of key Kiwi.com products, such as Nomad, Virtual Interlining, Tequila and others. Interested parties also have the opportunity to get a glimpse behind the scenes of the company at regular meetups and hackathons that are held in Bratislava.

The Košice team will consist of about twenty specialists, including data engineers, front-end developers, Python/JavaScript developers, testers and others. Kiwi.com currently employs over 1,000 people around the world and, in addition to its Slovak Offices, has offices in Brno, Prague, Barcelona, London, the USA and other European cities.

Open to talent from Ukraine

Stanislav Komanec, VP of Engineering at Kiwi.com, adds, “We are reaching out to both the local community and international candidates who are looking for a bit of adventure in our beautiful city in eastern Slovakia,” says Komanec, adding that the positions are also open to candidates from Ukraine.

Notes for Editors

Nomad: The goal of NOMAD is to provide Kiwi.com users with a better experience when planning trips with two or more stops. When a user plans a complex trip, Kiwi.com will provide them with the option to stop over at multiple destinations along the way. Instead of requiring the customer to choose the order of those destinations, Kiwi.com will shuffle those stops to arrive at the most inexpensive itinerary possible.

Tequila: Tequila is the Kiwi.com online B2B platform that enables partners to offer Kiwi.com content.

Virtual Interlining: Kiwi.com’s innovative Virtual Interlining algorithm allows users to combine flights across legacy and low-cost airlines into one single itinerary.
