Kiwi.com helps connect regional Ostrava Airport with the world

February 16, 2023

16 February 2023, Ostrava – Regional airport of the Moravian-Silesian Region in the Czech Republic, Ostrava Airport, has partnered with travel-tech company Kiwi.com to provide its passengers with a seamless connection from the region to the world.

The connection is made possible through the Kiwi.com widget available on the Ostrava Airport website, which provides travelers with limitless destinations available from Ostrava. Thanks to Kiwi.com’s proprietary algorithm enabling self-transfer, travelers can benefit from using the small but locally important regional airport to easily get anywhere they want or need, removing the necessity for the airlines operating from the airport to have a direct destination in their portfolio.

Using the connection between Ostrava and Warsaw, powered by  LOT Polish Airlines, passengers are offered a great choice of destinations. Combining that with unique itineraries by Kiwi.com, travelers can reach any short, medium, or long-haul place from Ostrava with one or two layovers along the way, be it Lisbon, Toronto, or Sri Lanka.**

Golan Shaked, Chief Commercial Officer at Kiwi.com, says, “By covering more than 95% of global flight inventory, we make sure Ostrava Airport is truly connected to the world. Passengers can reach their local airport of Ostrava quickly and then get access to anywhere in the world with one simple booking.”

Juraj Toth, Chief Commercial Officer at Ostrava Airport, adds, “We are one of the two airports in the Czech Republic linked to the whole world via a hub; in our case, it’s the service to Warsaw. We are delighted that Kiwi.com offers countless further opportunities for travel to and from Ostrava.” Over the last few years, the Ostrava airport has grown into an important gateway to the Moravian-Silesian Region. Last year it handled nearly 290 thousand passengers. “Air connectivity is vital for the long-term sustainable development of the region, and we are keen to continue playing our role with the support of our partners,” Toth concludes.

The partnership also includes an awareness campaign, whereby Ostrava Airport is being promoted on Kiwi.com’s website and social media that has commenced with a destination inspiration article. This way the partnership does not only support the outbound but also inbound passenger traffic, for example, attracting visitors to Ostrava’s famous summer festivals, Beats for Love and Colours of Ostrava, happening in July.

The Kiwi.com and Ostrava Airport partnership will be ongoing, with further cooperation and social campaigns in the future with a goal of bringing more traffic to the airport and promoting Ostrava and its region through marketing and social media activities.
